GURU REST IN PEACE 1966-2010

Guru died Monday morning following a yearlong struggle with cancer.
Born on July 17, 1966 in the Boston neighborhood of Roxbury, Guru broke into the music biz in the 1980s upon founding the legendary rap group Gang Starr, which found instant success with their acclaimed 1989 debut album No More Mr. Nice Guy and 1991's classic, Step In the Arena.
But it wasn't until 1993 that Elam made his solo mark when he launched his pioneering Jazzmatazz Vol. 1, a project that fused jazz and rap
